She may carry sponsor banners on 2 sides, for those special corporate functions as well as regional sponsorships.

The name, while still debated even today, generally comes from the feminine color scheme, coining the 'Lady'. The coinage of the term 'Blye' remains a mystery! General consensus sights the recognition of Captain Bligh's positive reward to his crew of the HMS Bounty. The true part of the famed H.M.S. Bounty arrived in Tahiti in 1788, the breadfruit trees had to be seeded and grown into saplings large enough for transport, a process that would take at least six months. Contrary to popular opinion, Bligh was the sort of man who wanted his crew to be happy, so instead of sailing the South Pacific exploring and mapping, he decided to give his men six months of shore leave in paradise. In hindsight, it was the biggest mistake of his life as documented by the mutineers. We at Gentle Breeze want our crew to be happy also, hence the reference to Bligh, and changed to Blye. Ironically the namage of the balloon rumored to been discussed after her inaugural flight with a bottle of rum… also named Capt. Blye!

This Houser balloon is the fourth balloon in the series of successful marketing campaigns. The balloon designs have varied slightly over the years, however all balloons have featured the vertical rainbow colors of red, green, yellow, blue, purple, orange and offset with the black equator, allowing the Houser logo to stand out in vivid white. The current production model features pennants as well as special-cut "scallops", defining the tops and bottoms of the rainbow into a tear-drop shape. Thriller's design incorporates a unique balloon shape; tall and skinny. Shaped like a bullet. Commonly called a racer-style balloon, Lindstrand Balloons' definition calls Thiller an "X" series balloon. Of the 3 "X" series balloons, Thriller tops-out as the largest at 69,000 Cu. Ft.; 56,000 and 65,000 the remaining sizes.  The design allows the balloon to slide through the air, upward and downward at a high rate of speed, hence racer-style. "X" series relates to the way hot air balloon competitions involve balloon competition and scoring.  Balloon competitions, held throughout the world, display a target, in the shape of an "X", while competitors maneuver toward the center for the best score.  Without steering wheels, balloon pilots use the winds at varying altitudes to guide and steer.   The ability to climb and descend at high speed affords the serious balloon pilot better scores. "X" series balloons won and continue to win national and international balloon competitions, regularly.

Thriller races occasionally, her primary role carries only 2 passengers and serves as our Exclusive, private charter balloon. The name for Thriller comes from the high performance characteristics.  You guessed it, YES, Thriller ascends a mile in less than 4 minutes, allowing skydivers the unique opportunity: a balloon parachute jump!   Not to worry, Gentle Breeze never mixes Thriller's schedule of skydivers and non-skydivers.

For handling control the balloon features the standard parachute-style deflation system as well as optional rotation vents, which can orient the balloon clock-wise and counter-clockwise, whilst in flight. The balloon's 'engine', powered by twin JetStream Series II burners, produce a heat output of 15,000,000 Btu's per burner or approximately 4,390 kW!

Golf Ball Balloon

Golf Ball Hot Air Balloon

Year Built: 2004
Make/Model: Cameron 90S
Size: 90,000 Cu. Ft. (usable lift)
Gross weight: 700 lbs.
Passenger Capacity: 3
Registration: N84LU
Height: 50'
Width: 50'
Fuel Capacity: 30 gallons (two 15 gallon tanks)

Another unique design, a perfectly round balloon! A standard hot air balloons shape more like an inverted tear-drop. However, in order to construct a round shape, the manufacturer starts with a natural shaped balloon then designs internal baffles allowing non-natural shapes. In turn, the balloon contains a natural shape on the inside with added fabric, internally, thus creating the shape. In the case of the Golf Ball, a perfectly round shape results! Added weight to the envelope, due to the internal baffles, increases added weight. Nearly double in weight of a natural-shaped balloon, decreases the amount of usable lift.

For handling control the balloon features the standard parachute-style deflation system as well as optional rotation vents, which can orient the balloon clock-wise and counter-clockwise, while in flight. The balloon's 'engine', powered by twin JetStream Series II burners, produce a heat output of 15,000,000 Btu's per burner or approximately 4,390 kW!
